At Japan's first department of animation for university education, we offer complete range of innovative and experimental education and research, using both traditional techniques as well as the newest digital technology to train students to become animation artists fit for the new age.
Comprehensive learning and research programs are offered, to cover every subject related to animation for which Japan and Tokyo has become the core location. Because animation is a comprehensive art form, it involves a broad range of domain of art as well as research, analysis, and editing abilities. Those arts applied include design, screenplay, and technique of drawing, clay modeling and so on, as well as computer game creation and web design.

Ready for Information-publishing Media and Seamless Communication.

The field of animation can be divided largely into two areas: firstly the non-interactive animation which involves one-way communications, and secondly the interactive animation which enhances bi-directional and interactive communications. Original video, films, programs and commercial messages for television broadcasting and large format screens in the street are the information-publishing media applying non-interactive animation. Acquire basic skills, learn storytelling techniques, and develop visual materials.

In particular, as for study subjects contributing to those two areas of animation, the Department of Animation also offers the opportunity to study literature and storytelling styles. To gain knowledge and start up on storytelling, students are trained to write original stories, and analyze cartoon, literature, myths and fairy tales. We also offer classes to understanding and developing visual materials, psychology courses where students will gain insight to giving personality and psychological identity to characters in animation.
Courses for techniques of clay art doll making, 2D and 3D CG creation are offered.
