gSimultaneous solid study of the two fields
of etechnologyf and esensitivityfh ? that
is the greatest feature of the Department
of Media and Image Technology.
T his department have it's roots in the Department
of Photographic Engineering and Department
of Printing Engineering which were opened
when the Faculty of Engineering was established
in 1966. The Department of Media and Image
Technology was established by integrating
the technological foundation of these two
departments and can be said to be the core
department of the University, which started
as a professional photography school.
This department engages in education and
research of the science which treats images
as an information media.
For example;
1. There is a character you would like to
design
2. This is created using 3D computer graphics
software
3. The images and pictures are edited using
Photoshop and Premiere
4. Completion as a web-site draft or computer
graphics artwork
Studies are concentrated on items such as
these.
A gComputer Graphics and media image courseh
and gmedia technology courseh will commence
from 2011; these two courses will be the mainstay
of the education curriculum. It is possible
for people with an interest in media presentation,
as well as people with an interest in the
technology behind media to freely select subjects
to extend their abilities in response to individual
interests, aptitude and future ambitions.
Computer Graphics and Media Image
Course
Programming technology and the applications
of various image-software are studied in order
to create CG, images, animation and games.
The utilization of these enables technology
to be acquired to effectively represent works
and so polish sensitivity for expression.
A curriculum has been prepared to nurture
capable people able to participate widely
in the future as creators of CG, images and
games, programmers and system engineers (SE)
in the fields of content production and IT.
Media Technology Course
The setup of leading edge software and hardware,
which supports next generation media, is studied;
this includes thin film displays, high-definition
images, 3D representation, virtual reality
and optical technology. Technology and concepts
are acquired in order to gcreateh things the
world has never seen and sensitivity is polished
for future creations.
A curriculum has been prepared to nurture
capable people able to participate widely
in the future in fields including electronic
paper, advanced image display, three-dimensional
images, high-definition printing, advanced
optical systems and laser applications.
In this way, with an advanced capacity to
express peoplefs sensitivity and imagination,
extensive specialist knowledge of the media
technology supporting this, and creative power,
this department nurtures capable people able
to participate widely in the new multi-media
society of the future by taking that sensitivity
and creation as strength.
