A blue white beam of commercially available He-Cd laser can be divided into the three primary color beams of light, i.e., R/G/B beam components using a set of dichroic mirrors. The dichroic mirror is widely used for color TV cameras to separate the visual image into its three primary color components.
In this study, an influence of additive color mixture in two types of reconstructed hologram images is checked through the optical experiments using the He-Cd laser and dichroic mirrors. The visual appearances and deteriorations of reconstructed color images owing to the cross-talk called overlapped or ghost image are discussed as for the optical Fresnel hologram and computer generated FTH (Fourier Transform Hologram).

Conjectures on Birational Geometry

Kazuhisa MAEHARA

In this article we shall prove the rest part of Iitaka C ([Iit]) and Viehweg C++ ([Vw1]) conjecture. We make use of Mochizuki theory of Grothendieck anabelian conjecture([Mch]) to the proof which is purely algebraic.

Dynamics of a family of quadratic maps in C2

Shizuo Nakane

In this note, the dynamics of a family of quadratic maps in C2 is investigated. Especially, the topology of their filled-in Julia sets is studied. It turns out that the filled-in Julia set is a Cantor set if all the critical points escape to infinity.

The Relation between Image and Sound Information for Emotion Recognition.

This study examined the relationship between image (visual) and sound (auditory) information for emotion recognition. In the experiment, participants were asked to categorize the character in the movie scene into the six basic expressions of emotion with sound and without sound information. Chi-Square(X 2) test showed the count of categories were varied (p<0.05) between with and without sound information. We assumed the distance between the emotion categories from the experimental results obtained with and without sound condition. Multidimensional scaling (MDS) reveals that the distance between "Surprise and Fear" is small as well as "Anger and Disgust". We consider that auditory information is important to discriminate these expressions of emotion. And we found "Sadness" was plotted at almost equal distance from the "Surprise and Fear" , "Anger and Disgust" and "Happiness".

A New Reaction Pathway to Asymmetrically Substituted Linear Polysilanes via Partial Electrochemical Reduction of Trichlorosilanes

Asymmetrically substituted linear polysilanes are important as new functional materials because of their good film forming ability in addition to the unique properties of polysilanes. In order to obtain these polymers, asymmetrically substituted monomers has been used. However, preparation of such monomers requires several reaction steps and that makes the total yield of the target polymers very low. In order to establish a better preparation pathway, here presented new method utilized monosubstituted trichloromonomers, (1RSiCl3). First, partial electrochemical reduction of the monomers was carried out to obtain linear polymers, (1RClSi)n , and then subsequent reaction with Grignard reagent was carried out to introduce the second substituent group and to obtain the asymmetrically substituted polymers, (1R2RSi)n . Thus obtained polymers contained more or less partial network structures in the dominating linear structures because of undesirable networking reactions during the electrochemical reactions. However they showed mostly the typical properties of linear polymers.

A Performance of Thermally Stratified Closed-type Wind Tunnel and Simulation of Thermal Environment in Parks and Green Belts in Summer

A new wind tunnel has been designed to study the effects of thermal stratification on flow and diffusion in an urban area. Its operating performance was much better than that of previous systems due to newly designed temperature control systems composed of a re-heater and floor heating panels. The wind tunnel could create temperature gradients as strong as a bulk Richardson number equivalent to 0.57 and maintained stable layers in the test section. The thermal boundary layer in summer was developed by using the heating panels. The cooling panel with cold water simulated the cool surface zone in parks and green belts. When the cooling panel was set to the leeward of the heating panel, a large cooled air region was generated on the cooling panel. It is expected that by simulating nocturnal cold air drainages occurred by the surface temperatures differences between parks and built-up areas, appropriate methods could be developed to keep the urban climate more comfortable in summer.

Novel Photovoltaic Systems with Power Sensor-less MPPT Approaches for AC Mains Interface

Mikihiko Matsui and Tatsuya Kitano

MPPT (maximum power point tracking) control is very important for the practical PV (photovoltaic) systems to maintain efficient power generating conditions irrespective of the deviation in the PV array insolation or/and temperature conditions. Although a plenty of researches have been done so far, most of them are too costly because of much dependence on expensive sensors for measuring photovoltaic power and micro-processors for achieving elaborate and complicated control strategies. From this point of view, authors have been researching on sensor-less approaches for MPPT control, and have proposed two types of new control schemes "Power Equilibrium Scheme" and "Limit Cycle Scheme". This paper summarises these two schemes with focussing on their operating principles and some results of simulation and experiments.

Sub-Doppler Polarization Spectroscopy of the Cs2 B1ΠuX1Σ+g System with a Titanium Sapphire Laser

A sub-Doppler spectrum of the B1ΠuX1Σ+g transition of the Cs2 molecule has been measured by the polarization spectroscopy. Dunham coefficients of Ysub00-Y sub30, Y sub01(e)-Y sub21(e), Ysub 01( f )-Y sub21( f ), Y sub02-Ysub 32(e), Ysub 03-Y sub23 have been calculated by least squares fitting pocedure at the standard deviation of 0.0016 cm-1. The RKR potential of the B1Πu-state have been calculated based on the spectroscopic constants determined.
