科目概要 さまざまなスピーキングの演習により、英語でのコミュニケーション能力の育成を図る。
到達目標 日常の場面で、基本的な内容の会話を行うことができる。
授業内容 In this term, we will empower the students to communicate with their current skills in essential communication situations especially in a first meeting situation. The program is open to students of all levels and will focus on employing strategy and technique to create and maintain quality communication. It will also make students aware of global communication requirements.
授業計画 1. Program and Class Introductions.
Student Introductions and Class explanation

2. Reacting and Connecting.
Practicing how to react and connect your feelings, ideas and experiences with others communication.

3. Likes and Dislikes.
How to use likes and dislikes to improve conversation.

4. WH/Questions.
Preparing who, what, when where, how, why and which in communication. The importance of questions.

5. Connecting and Information Plus.
How connection and additional information help keep conversation going.

6. (PLR). Dynamic Understanding.
Students will learn what do when they understand and how to respond when they do not understand.

7. Invitations.
How and when native speakers use invitations with new friends. Importance of connected communication.

8. Ice Breaking and Compliments.
How compliments are used to start communication with strangers.

9. Small Talk
How questions are used in first meetings to learn each person’s areas of interest.

10. Conversation
How conversation becomes discussion in first meetings.

11. Separators and Good byes and Introductions.
When and how native speakers end conversation and introduce themselves.

12. Review
Students will practice for the exam with partners.

13. First Meetings Oral Exam
Students will take an oral exam with a random partner.

履修上の注意 As participation points are earned by daily activities, it is strongly advised that students attend all classes.
準備学習(予習,復習について) Students should prepare for each lesson by reviewing the previous lesson's notes. Most lessons require a strong understanding of what was presented on the earlier lessons. Absent students will need to copy notes from others in class.
試験方法 At the end of the term an oral examination will be given in pairs.
成績評価方法 Participation 50% Acquired through daily activities.
Examinations 50% At the end of the term an oral examination will be given in pairs.
教科書等 There is no text for this class. Lesson handouts will be provided. Students will need an A4 clear file notebook .All lesson hand-outs, paper and pencil should be brought to each class.
